High court in Masindi led by Justice Musa Ssekana has Tuesday afternoon dismissed the election petition filed by the former Masindi district Woman MP Aspirant Mildred Kahombo against Dr. Florence Asiimwe the incumbent.
Kahombo ran to Masindi high court challenging the victory of Asiimwe on allegations she did not resign from the minstrel office at the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom. Asiimwe is the minister in charge of social services at Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
Addressing journalists shortly after the judgment, Asiimwe confirmed that she is still the minister in the Kingdom, and this couldn’t stop her from winning the case since she volunteers.
Asiimwe who recently procured an ambulance said she will continue serving the people of Masindi despite political differences. On the same note, she has asked the opponent to have time for her home district in order to win the elections.
The legislator who is targeting to have two terms in parliament noted that she will be planning to have the replacement since she won’t cling on power.
When asked on costs, Asiimwe said that Kahombo should pay the lawyers since she (Asiimwe) doesn’t want money from her.
Efforts to get a comment from Kahombo Mildred were futile since she didn’t appear at the court.
