MP COWBOY TAKES KABAGARAME MARKET SALE BATTLE TO PARLIAMENT

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has directed attorney general to investigate Mbarara High Court order of auctioning the land housing Kabagarame Pork Joint in Bushenyi District.
While presiding over yesterday’s plenary sitting, Kadaga said that they should report back to the floor before the expiry of a period of 30 days.
This was after the minister for general duties in the office of the prime minister also Bushenyi district woman Mp Can. Mary Karoro Okurut and Bushenyi Ishaka municipality member of parliament Gordon Arinda Cowboy made a submission before the floor of parliament concerning Kabagarame.
Mbarara High Court Deputy Registrar Amos Kwizera on Friday directed Best Associated Auctioneers and Court Bailiffs to sell the land on which the pork market sits, and a residential house of Bushenyi- Ishaka Municipality Town Clerk, among other properties, within 30 days to recover Shs187 million the local government owes one Manfred Muhumuza and others.
The money accrues from a court case the municipality lost against Mr Manfred Muhumuza and others in a battle over ownership of land currently housing a taxi park.
The town clerk, Mr Didas Muhanguzi, said he was aware of the court order and said the municipal authorities are trying their best to raise the money.
He added that the municipal council recommended they should pay off Mr Muhumuza and his colleagues but are yet to find the money.
