MP MWIJUKYE CONCERNED OVER POLICE BRUTALITY ON JOURNALISTS

Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye who doubles as the Commissioner of parliament has expressed his concern on the Police brutal treatment towards journalists.
Mwijukye said that for long, journalists have been severally harassed and tortured by security Operatives citing out incidents in the just concluded general elections.
He noted that the two bodies should come to a mutual understanding so that they can smoothly perform their different duties.
Mwijukye’s comment comes at a time journalists in Uganda have joined the rest to celebrate world press freedom day under the theme ‘information as a public good’.
Ugandan journalists have known no peace with the police and her sister agencies; they are tortured moreover in the line of duty.
Meanwhile, the Sheema District woman of Parliament elect Rosemary Nyakikongoro has appealed to Journalists to focus much on passing over government message of poverty eradication to the masses as they celebrate their day, today .
