The Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze, has been rushed to Kiruddu Hospital in Makindye Division in bad health condition,
Mr Elias Lukwago posted on his facebook timeline that MP Nambooze who has been in bad health condition since her detention at Nagalama Police Station, has today been transferred to Kiruddu Hospital to receive treatment.
Nambooze was on Wednesday arrested from her home in Mukono and taken to Jinja Road Police in Kampala where she was briefly held before being transferred to Nagalama Police Station, before being released on bond that evening.
She was on Thursday however re-summoned to appear at SIU Kireka to “complete her statement”, but was later transferred to Nagalama Police Station where she has since been detained.
Mr Lukwago had earlier asked police to release Nambooze saying she is sick and supposed to travel for treatment abroad, but in vain.
She is being questioned in regard to Arua Municipality MP, Ibrahim Abiriga’s death.
Police on Tuesday said that before Abiriga’s murder last week, Ms Nambooze and three other people posted messages on various social media platforms supporting the attack on Abiriga.
A detective had said Ms Nambooze, Raymond Soulfa, alias Peng Peng, Nasser Mugerwa and Jane Kuli would be arrested for alleged offensive communication.
Mr Vincent Ssekate, the spokesperson of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, confirmed the plan to arrest the MP and her co-accused.
Mr Ssekate said a general enquiry file had been opened at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters against them.
