The diocese of Muhabura is to spend over 130 million Ugandan shillings on renovating the Bishop’s house as the diocese prepares to welcome a new one. The house is formerly the residence of the outgoing Bishop Right Reverend Cranmer Mugisha.
This was revealed by our reporter as he inspected the mood at the diocese as Christians wait for the announcement of a new Bishop after the two nominated names were ignored by the house of Bishops sitting at the Lweza trading conference yesterday.
However, the reporter found that most programs at the diocese are proceeding normally; some offices open while projects like construction of the new cathedral and renovation of the Bishop’s home were also in progress.
According to trusted sources at the diocese, renovations began in December last year and are expected to be finished in February this year to prepare a new environment for the new Bishop for the diocese.
The sources added that new iron hits, doors, windows, household equipment will be used and designs changed at a total budget of 130 million shillings.
Meanwhile, the clergy and Christians provided mixed reactions over the postponed election of a new Bishop for the diocese. Some expressed gratitude saying that the proposed names were not nominated at the will of the many while those who expressed sadness say that what they wanted is a new Bishop.
