In Kampala—
President Yoweri Museveni has assured the youth in the country that offering extra help to youth SACCOs and groups is not based on Parties as rumored but rather on the ongoing workshops that he has been seeing on different Kampala Capital City Authority roads.
President Museveni was today continuing his tour and launching of common user facilities in Kawempe and Nakawa Divisions. He began the tour yesterday with common user facilities in some areas in Wakiso District and Kampala Capital City Authority yesterday.
He also informed the youth artisans of Kampala that he is going to ban Ugandan Ministries from importing office furniture as the carpentry shops operated by Ugandans in the country can provide them.
Museveni urged the youth to elect leaders that would be able to listen to their concerns and find solutions to those challenges. He reiterated that the reason why the youth were still facing challenges is because of voting poor leaders who only care about themselves and their salaries.
Regarding electricity generation, the President said that the cost of power will soon be reduced because of the increased hydro power dams. He added that more power generation will go a long way in enabling the youth to carry out their work at cheaper costs of electricity.
During the tour, the President presented cheques to different youth SACCOs. In Kawempe Division, Bwaise Industrial Area Carpenters Joinery and Bwaise Timber Sellers received Shs.100 million each; while Kawempe Kiyindi Welders, Kawempe Metal Fabricators, Kagoma Furniture Makers and Kagoma United Fabricators scooped Shs. 50 million each.
In Nakawa Division, 490 million shillings to Kireka Metal Box SACCO and Nakawa Fabricators, among others, received Shs.490 million each.
The President promised to give FUSO trucks to every youth SACCO. He was gifted a wooden table and stool from Bwaise Carpentry youth as a token of their appreciation.
