BY OKOODI DEO
IN KIRUHURA—-
One cow has so far been killed by the disease while two others are being monitored as authorities in the area carry out ring vaccination
Apollo Twesengyereze Assistant district veterinary officer says a serious quarantine has also been put in place to prevent movement of animals and their products from areas where the disease is reported.
He said dead animals was discovered after it had been slaughtered at Sanga slaughter house and buried immediately adding that the situation has since been put to under control
Twesengyereze said the disease which causes serious pain and abortion can easily affect other animals like goats once a product of a sick animal is taken by human beings.
He refuted claims that raw meat being sold at Sanga meat market are of dead animals saying all the cows slaughtered in the area are subjected to a thorough check before its meat is allowed for public consumption
