MUSLIM TEACHER ARRESTED FOR DEFILING MALE PUPIL IN MBARARA

Police in Rwizi region are having in detention a teacher at Maato Moslem Primary school in Kyanju-Ntungamo district on charges of aggravated defilement.

The teacher identified as Sheikh Igga Sudais alias Kagame aged 23 a resident of Kyaruhuga village in Bwongyera sub-county is said to have been sleeping with a male pupil at the school between February 2018 and Late May 2019.

According to Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, the suspect allegedly started defiling the pupil from his house and threatened to kill him if he revealed that matter to the parents or the school authorities.

Kasasira said that the matter was reported to police by the victim’s stepmother who felt concerned after the pupil who had unbearable pain confided in her.

Kasasira added that the suspect is being held at Mbarara police station and medical reports indicated that the pupil was actually defiled.

He further revealed that the suspect has been on the run since late may up to Saturday when he was arrested in Mbarara.

Mackline Nimwesiga a stepmother to the victim said that she learnt of the matter after realizing a funny walking style from his stepson and was prompted to inquire from him before the child opened.

Ntungamo district education officer Odo Arigye described the incident as unfortunate and revealed disciplinary action must be taken against the teacher in question.

The case was registered under GEF: Rwizi/E 019/2019.
