“MY LIFE IS IN DANGER”-BUSHENYI CAO BYAMUNGU
By Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante
In Bushenyi—-
The chief administrative officer (CAO) Bushenyi district Mr. Elias Byamungu says his life is in danger, following several attacks on his homes in Bushenyi and Kanungu respectively.
Byamungu said that thugs attacked his home in Kitookye zone in Bushenyi -Ishaka municipality and stole property including television set but left other important property intact which showed that they had some other intensions.
He also said that masked men armed with machetes attacked his home in Kanungu and threatened the occupants and left them in a state of fear.
He said this during an exclusive interview with the www.mknewslink.com managing director at Ankole resort hotel in Bushenyi town.
Byamungu claims that this could have resulted from the district service commission saga which was opposed to some tycoons in the district. He says this could be a plan to threaten him because he supported the move to institute the district service commission.
The Bushenyi District service commission which consisted of three members; Lydia Rwakishaya,Julius Ishungisa and Nathan Behangaana was formed by the district former chairman Willis Bashasha during his office tenure .
However, when Jafaali Basajjabalaba became the district chairman in 2016, he tried to disband the whole commission and proposed a new one with new members but public service commission members rejected it.
Jafaali tried to borrow Mbarara district service commission to recruit public servants in Bushenyi, still the public service commission rejected the move, tasking him to name the remaining two members to make the commission complete.
A commission was later established after a court in favour of Apollo Kakonge from Western Ankole Civil society forum who had instituted a case against the district for failure to have a service commission.
Byamungu, appeals to the ministry of security to strengthen his security by providing him with a gun and a guard because his life is in great danger.
