In Bushenyi—-
Word is ripe in all saints’ greater Bushenyi church in reference to the rape case that took place 8 months ago.
It is alleged that Rev. Can. Joseph Mweyungye the archdeacon for All Saints greater Bushenyi raped a vulnerable woman at his home while the wife was away.
The Christians are bitter with media and activists alleging that the two parties ate 6 million shillings to keep quiet.
However, www.mknewslink.com talked to the bishop, the diocesan secretary and the accused reverend plus three Christians from the church.
The accused reverend told www.mknewslink.com last evening 4th Sept. 2021 that all those are lies aimed at tarnishing his name and career.
He wondered why the vulnerable woman would not come out and speak for herself.
The three Christians who preferred anonymity called on the bishop to immediately transfer Rev. can. Mweyungye in abide to clean the name of their archdeaconry.
The bishop shortly after his zoom service told www.mknewslink.com that he could not speak to the media thus referred our reporter to the diocesan secretary who was given permission to address media issues by management.
The diocesan secretary treated the matter as a shock adding that he has heard it for the first time.
Credible sources however told www.mknewslink.com that the top brass at Bweranyangi is already investigating the matter and the bishop has already made two phone calls to top Christians from the church asking about the same matter.
This is not the first time the reverend is being accused of sexual acts; he was accused of sleeping with his Christians’ wives when he was still a curate at the church before he was transferred to Nyakitoko in Buhweju district
Relatedly, on the issue of Ryamarembo parish priest who allegedly defiled a 13 year old girl in Igara west and was remanded immediately to Sanga prison, the Diocesan secretary noted that he has not taken any action since he is still waiting for a report on the matter from the area archdeacon
