The Uganda communications Commission (UCC) has confirmed that is not ready to extend the simcard registration exercise from the 19th of May 2017.
Last month, Uganda Communications Commission started the registration of sim cards and it had given only one week to the non-registered sim card users to be disconnected.
However, the Prime minister of Uganda Ruhakana Rugunda extended the sim card registration to19 may 2017.
Speaking during the Annual communication innovation award organized by the Uganda Communications Commission at Kabalega secondary school in Masindi district on Thursday, Kiziito Joseph from the UCC consumers department explained that since they extended the deadline the public seem to relax forgetting that there will be a lot of confusion towards the deadline.
He added that public should not expect UCC to extend deadline noting that they extended it because there was a lot of pressure from the public.
Kiziito added that the time which was given to people was enough because the exercise had been completed in 2013 saying that they expected everybody buying sim-cards to have them registered.
During the annual communications award (acia) competitions, three primary schools and two secondary schools participated and they include Kinyara secondary school, Kabalega secondary school, Kora Hill top primary school, Kabalega primary school and Kihande Moselem primary school.
Kinyara secondary school and Kabalega primary school emerged the winner and they will represent Masindi district for the national competitions from 24th to 27th May 2017 at Serena hotel in Kampala.
