NO HAND CUFFS IN ISINGIRO, POLICE USE BANANA FIBERS TO TIE SUSPECTS

IN ISINGIRO—-
Police in Isingiro district are facing a problem of hand cuff crisis.
In an operation commanded by the area DPC Moses Muzima to apprehend people growing opium at Rubira Island in Kyarugaga parish, police used banana fibers and ropes to arrest and hand cuff suspects.
Police officers who requested not to be quoted said that the practice has been going on for so many months.
Although the DPC declined to comment over the matter, the Rwizi region police spokes person Kasasira Samson condemned the action which he said violates human rights and that it also puts the lives of arresting officers at risk.
He promised that police shall administratively address the matter and also to make sure that such a scenario does not happen again.
During the operation the LCI chairperson Katungi wilson was also held for interrogation after being suspected to be dealing with people involved in growing and selling opium
