NO ONE WILL EVICT YOU— MINISTER NABAKOOBA COMFORTS TENANTS ON MBARARA GOV’T LAND

The minister of Lands, housing and urban development Judith Nabakooba has ordered government surveyors to immediate open boundaries of the government land in the three Villages in Mbarara city North Division.
The land on which 7500 residents live in fear of being evicted by Uganda Land Commission covers villages of Kakiika, Surveyor and Nkokonjeru.
Minister Nabakooba while addressing the meeting of Residents held today at Andrews Inn, surveyor cell, Mbarara city North Division noted that surveyors from the Ministry of lands will do a boundary Opening exercise of the said land immediately.
The minister added that through this process, the Ministry will be in position to ascertain the acres of land in question and the number of affected persons.
She further tasked the Ministry surveyors to carry out the surveying process before the end of March then deliver the report about the matter to her office.
Nabakooba noted that during the exercise of opening Boundaries, her Ministry will be able to know the number of tenants with land tittles and ascertain the where abouts of those land tittles.
The minister revealed that her Ministry will give a first priority to the Residents who are currently living on the land since according to government policy, it can’t evict its people without compensating them.
The minister comforted the Residents from the three affected cells that no one will evict them.
Karim Abdullah the Chairperson Surveyor cell, Nyamityoobora ward called on Government to cancel the said land tittle of Uganda Land Commission so that the Residents can get a land lease from the land board or else provide them with land tittles for 99 years.
