In Masindi
John Ayub a suspect who is alleged to could have robbed Joel Alinaitwe a teenager from Nyangahya cell, central division in Masindi Municipality is said to could have escaped from Masindi police station.
According to Geoffrey Kirungi the father to Joel Alinaitwe, John Ayubu was arrested on Wednesday last week by police from Nyangahya Police post after he allegedly robbed Alinaitwe of his valuables.
Kirungi explains that Ayubu stole his son’s bag, two phones, and S.4 transcripts and also undressed him on the 14th of February 2020 at around 9:30 pm at Nyangahya water stream.
He adds that the suspect was transferred on Friday last week to Masindi central police station adding that to his surprise by Saturday last week the suspect was roaming around Nyangahya trading centre.
He explains that when he went to police to ascertain the circumstances under which the suspect was released, a police officer whom he never mentioned told him that the suspect escaped and they couldn’t tell how he had escaped.
Kirungi says that there is no clear information which indicates that the suspect was released on bond something he is still questioning.
Kirungi adds that the same person was also butchered stealing somewhere sometime back but when he was taken to Masindi hospital for treatment by the same police, he escaped.
He argues that this incident has left many members of the public doubting the credibility of Masindi police staff.
When contacted the Albertine region Police spokesperson, Allan Hakiza, said that when he consulted the district police commander Masindi district, Vincent Irama he was not aware of the matter.
