NRM AT IT AGAIN AFTER DEFEATING RUKUNGIRI OPPOSITION IN YESTERDAY’S LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS

NRM has again defeated the opposition in Rukungiri and this time around in LCIII elections
NRM’s Tumwesigye David won eastern division chairperson seat after he polled 2,230 votes defeating his closest rival of FDC Silva Musinguzi who polled 1,139.
Sylivia Twinomugisha Katimbira of the NRM won the local council 3 chairpersonship for Western division polling 2,044 votes against the FDC candidate Peter Tuhairwe’s 1,476.
FDC’s Denis Ngabirano trounced NRM’s Shame Mbareeba to take the southern division local council 3 chairpersonship. Ngabirano polled 1,701 votes as Mbareeba trailed with 938 according to the results announced by the Rukungiri district Returning officer Namara K Abas.
In Buyanja Sub County, the incumbent and FDC’s Agaba Emmy Rubondo retained the seat after polling 4,906 votes against 3,365 polled by his closest opponent Fulgence Tumuhairwe of the NRM.
NRM’s Benon Mugisha a.k.a. Aunt Mugisha won the Buhunga sub county race after gnarring 3,396 votes trouncing his other two compititors. In the same race FDC’s Gordon Muhereza polled 1,847 votes and the independent candidate Augustus Tumwine polled only 872 votes.
The independent candidate, Wallen Kajuna was declared the winner of Bikurungu Town council chairperson seat with 835 votes defeating FDC’s Sunday George Rwakinwa who got 117 votes and NRM’s Arthur Tugume emerged the second with 672 votes.
NRM’s Catherine Tumusiime retained the Rwerere Town council chairpersonship with 734 votes against her opponent’s Godfrey Tumwesigye of the FDC who got 673 votes and an independent candidate Robert Mutebi trailed with 23 votes.
NRM’S Christopher Kagayano Kahonaho emerged the winner of the Bwambara sub county chairperson seat with 2,553 votes defeating independent candidate and a close competitor Safari Dinan Rwakachaka who garnered 2,493 as FDC’s Christopher Turyarugayo trailed with 1,821 votes.
FDC’s Alex Nathan Mugabe trounced NRM’s Leornard Muhunguzi Tiberondwa aka Principle farmer in a tight race to win the Kebisoni Town Council seat with1,595 against Tiberondwa’s 1,524 votes. Independent candidate Ben Nahabwe Kataramire trailed with 648 votes.
Namara also declared NRM’S Kahanyi Charles winner of the local council 3 chairperson seat for Kebisoni Sub County. Kahanyi polled 2,022 votes to beat all his competitors who included the independent Herbert Arinaitwe Katabaazi with 709 votes, Joseph Mwebembezi of the Forum for Democratic Change who polled 691 votes, independent candidates Lawrence Kabagambe and Laban Kamugisha who 657 and 134 votes respectively.
FDC’s and incumbent Nyarushanje sub county chaieperson Michael Musiime retained the seat with 7,429 votes to trounce the NRM’s Bernard Kamugisha Matte who got 5,078 votes.
Jaston Byamukama of the NRM polled 3,913 votes to outcompete his opponents for the Bugangari sub county chairperson seat. Others in the race were FDC’s Emmanuel Turyareeba who garnered 2,447 votes and independent candidate Henry Twinamatsiko trailed with 628 votes.
William Tigandenga of the National Resistance Movement was declared the winner for the Buyanja Town council chairpersonship after polling 686 votes beating all his opponents including FDC’s Benard Julius Musinguzi who garnered 398 votes, independent candidate Dismas Arinaitwe with 379 votes and George Rwaburingwa aka Omuloodi trailed with 71 votes.
