NRM LACKS MONEY TO CONDUCT SHEEMA NORTH BY ELECTION—PRINCIPAL ELECTIONS OFFICER

NRM officials have revealed that the party lacks funds to finance the Sheema North by election.
This was revealed by Atwijukire Bagamba the NRM principal elections on Tuesday, 28 in a meeting where NRM with five candidates in the party primaries for Sheema north by election at Kigarama sub County. The meeting was meant to share knowledge on how to conduct primary elections in hardship situation the party is facing.
Atwijukire added the party hasn’t set the polling date yet but assured the candidates that all is going to be fine.
“As per now, as NRM party we haven’t yet set the real date for voting, we are still hunting for enough money to use in election process but still hiding from us but we hope that we are near to get it ” Atwijukire
His statement resulted into mixed reactions where some members expressed concern that the opposition may be laughing at them.
“How can a ruling party lack money to conduct elections in just one constituency? …. , opposition parties are laughing at us because confusion and un seriousness in NRM” One of district party officers.
NRM Vice chairman Sheema district former MP Sheema South Eng. Yorokamu Katwiremu Bategana revealed that even party employee are not yet paid.
“Me personally, I have spent five months in office without getting my salary and allowances; if the party fails to pay her employees, do you think it has that money needed to conduct elections?” Katwiremu
Atwijukire who represented Tanga Odoi said that the elections will be conducted before September ends but due to insufficient funds, the photos of candidates won’t appear on the ballot papers.
Ms Jacklet Atuhaire woman MP Sheema district expressed concern on rumors that some candidates have already bought pickups of sticks to beat their opponents, the act she condemned.
