In Sheema—
Finally NRM candidate Ms Naome Kibaaju was on Monday 8th October announced a winner in the hotly contested Sheema North by election with a land slide victory defeating FDCs Guma Nuwagaba with a margin of 4000 votes.
Kibaaju polled 11326votes (60.3%) while Guma 7322 votes (39.0%).
As the returning officer Ms Debrah Asiimwe started reading the provisional results at 7 pm, the tally room was full of opposition leaders led by FDC party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi however they kept on sneaking out one by one and at the time of declaring the final results, nobody from opposition was still around the tally centre.
The opposition isn’t satisfied with the results citing the arrests of FDC strongmen including former Bushenyi Ishaka municipality Odo Tayebwa, Stanley Katembeya the Mbarara greater chairman FDC and others took place during the voting exercise during the day.
Guma Nuwagaba said that he asked for security to go in a certain place where he said that there was a certain vehicle with ticked votes however his appeal wasn’t honoured by the police officers of Kigarama sub County police station.
NRM’s win in Sheema North makes it a total of five of sevenby elections while FDC has not won any, with People Power winning two.
