NRM’S KAHIMA DECLARED RUHAAMA MP

The NRM candidate Moses Kahima Mugabe has won the Ruhaama constituency by-election, defeating the three independent candidates.
Declaring the winner at 12:25am this morning, the Ntungamo District Registrar; Robert Beine noted that out of the total 50,073 vote cast, Kahima Moses Mugabe (NRM) got 31,102 votes, followed by Eng Jackson Mubangizi Kabeikire who pulled 16,345 votes,Dr. Beinomugisha Peninah Jambo got 2,103 and Orishaba Vastine Byarugaba 523 votes all independents.
The by-election caused a heated contest which attracted NRM top major players of Uganda’s politics including president Museveni to campaign for the NRM candidate.
The Chairman electoral commission; Justice Simon Byabakama urged Kahima to embrace even the people he defeated in the race saying elections are not an end because they are means for people to work together to develop Ruhaama county and Ntungamo District at large.
Speaking to the media after being declared the winner, Kahima Mugabe said he will go to parliament to represent the views of his people who trusted him with votes.
