Police in Ntungamo District have arrested 26 people during an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected criminals linked to robberies, thefts and house break-ins in Rubaare Town Council.
The operation was conducted at about 10pm on October 6, 2026, in Kamwokya, Rubaare I Cell, Kagango Ward, Rubaare Town Council.
According to SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, the operation followed an increase in cases of robbery, theft, house break-ins, burglary and snatching of property from members of the public in the area.
Kasasira said 22 males and four females were arrested during the operation.
Police also recovered five suspected stolen motorcycles, including registration numbers UFZ 428A, UGF 762M, UEW 306C and UFU 612W, while another motorcycle had no registration number.
Other items recovered included two motorcycle changers, a 32-inch flat-screen television, four speakers, a Tecno smartphone, a motorcycle tyre and two bags of suspected opium.
Police also recovered suspected breaking implements, including a hammer, pangas, spears and pieces of metal.
Kasasira said the suspects are expected to appear in court once investigations are complete and charges have been preferred against them.
