The mayor Ntungamo Municipality Jacob Kafureeka has commended the government for prioritizing on health of Ugandans especially in rural areas.
According to Kafureeka this has restored back the hope the people had lost in the ruling government.
He made remarks on Monday while at a ground breaking and site handover for the construction of Ruhoko HCII in Kafunjo village Kyamate ward Eastern division Ntungamo Municipality.
Recently the Municipal council received additional funding of 500m for upgrading Ruhoko HCII to HCIII from the ministry.
Ruhoko HCII which was built in 1996 by Jacob Kafureeka using his moneyis a second health center in Ntungamo Municipality after Ntungamo health center III was also upgraded to HCIV.
The six month construction work was awarded to Kweed construction LTD and committee recommended that 500m shillings funds should be used for the construction of general ward (OPD)-140m, 4stance VIP latrine at 35m, maternity ward at 300m and 25m for monitoring.
However, Kafureeka warned the contractor against shoddy work appealing to local leaders to cooperate and monitor the progress of the work.
Kafureeka noted that Western Division will be considered in the next financial year since it is the only one remaining without a health center.
The speaker Eastern division Musiimenta Molly hailed the municipality for considering the people of Ruhoko have always walked long distance seeking health services from Itojo Hospital and Ntungamo HCIV.
The Ntungamo Municipality Town clerk Tandeka Festo told the contractor to consider using the local people skilled and un skilled as laborers such that they can also benefit from the project.
Tandeka revealed that the construction will start on February 20th, 2019 and end in late August this year.
