NTUNGAMO COURT CONVICTS KAMPALA BUSINESSMAN FOR ASSAULTING WOMAN

Ntungamo Magistrates court yesterday 13th may 2019 convicted a kampala business man of assaulting a woman.
The court that was lead by the chief magistrate Sarah Mbonye has charged Mr. Johnson Kanyamutwe aged 42 for assaulting Joy Kamanga aged 87 with whom they have a land conflict that has been in court for over ten years now.
Court heard that Mr Kanyamutwe found Ms Kamanga in her garden tilling on 11th April 2019 at around 9:00am, grabbed her and started kicking, hitting her and using a petal to beat her together with his one other employee who is at large before an alarm attracted neighbors who saved her from her assailants.
Ms Kamanga in the incident attained fractures on her two arms, several bruises on her body, and was hospitalized for five days and may be permanently maimed.
Court charged Mr Kanyamutwe 42 with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, charges he denied and was bailed out on a non cash bail of UShs1M despite rejection of the bail by prosecution after presenting three sureties to court. Each of his sureties was bailed on UShs2M.
The case will returns on 11 June for hearing.
Ms Kamanga said that this was the third time being assaulted by Mr. Kanyamutwe trying to evict her from the land but has failed to get justice since he uses his financial base to bribe her out of police and court and other institutions of government where she was also branded a lunatic.
