NTUNGAMO DISTRICT CAO, 2 OTHER OFFICIALS ARRESTED OVER EMBEZZLEMENT

Officials from the state house health and medicines monitoring unit yesterday arrested the Ntungamo district Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Chief Finance Officer and the District Internal Auditors accused of embezzling funds meant for health services delivery.
The arrest stems from the recent monitoring of the district payroll system that discovered several ghost health Centers.
Naser Mukiibi the CAO, was picked from the district and taken to Ntungamo police to record a statement by the state house officials at about 2:45pm Monday afternoon together with the Chief Finance Officer Frank Buhamizo Muhwezi.
The officials later picked the Principal internal Auditor Coleb Musinguzi and senior internal auditor.
They were questioned at the police in the evening and slept in the police cells.
They are accused of causing financial loss, criminal neglect of duty, abuse of office and Embezzlement of funds.
The Ntungamo District Police Commander Ms. Patience Baganzi confirmed the arrest but declined to divulge any further information.
Dr. Warren Namara the head of the state house monitoring unit yesterday morning said the arrest and questioning of the district officials was a constructive engagement to find the clear picture on discoveries in the system. He ruled out taking the arrested to court.
Several other officials have been summoned by police and the unit to record statements.
