NTUNGAMO DISTRICT COVID 19 TASK FORCE DISTRIBUTES FOOD TO THE VULNERABLE

Ntungamo district COVID-19 Task Force yesterday launched the first phase of food distribution to the vulnerable people affected by the lockdown due to the outbreak ofCOVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The RDC Ntungamo George Bakunda flanked by his deputy Byarugaba Isaiah Kanyamahaane and Task force team in charge of logistics, flagged off three pickup double cabins fully loaded with posho to be distributed to 200 families in three Divisions of Western, Central and Eastern that make up Ntungamo Municipality.
Bakunda noted that the food relief will benefit less privileged families who were affected by the lockdown especially elderly, mothers, barbers, mechanics, boda boda riders among others.
He hailed the Bishop Gerald Tugume the founder of Hope Discovery church Ntungamo and city businessman Kamukama Benjamin Katangura who donated two tones of maize flour to help people who are facing challenges of food in their families.
Bakunda requested other well wishers to also donate food relief and fuel since most of the families will be left out due to limited food.
He also advised sick people who are facing challenges of travelling to seek medication within the district to get temporally movement permits from sub county chiefs instead of the office of the RDC which is very far from them.
The chairperson of logistic and Appeal Ntungamo district COVID-19 task force Byarugaba Isaiah Kanyamahaane revealed that per person will get 2kgs in a family meaning that the number of persons in a family, the higher the number of kilograms of maize flour .
Kanyamahane who is also deputy RDC Ntungamo said that they will distribute relief food to the first 200 families which is about 680 people in the municipality.
The beneficiaries included Nanyonjo Masitura of Omuribiri cell 8 could not hide their happiness thanking the government and task force for the gesture as they start the Holy month of Ramadan.
