NTUNGAMO MUSLIMS DEMONSTRATE, WANT KADHI OUT OF OFFICE

While other Muslims are fasting, Fury erupted on Thursday 16^th may2019 between Muslim community and the Ntungamo district Kadhi Sheikh Swalleh kashangirwe over incompetence and mismanagement of Muslim funds in the district.

The angry Muslims holding posters reading Sheikh Kashangirwe must leave office, enough is enough, and Twagala Kashangirwe ogende ove mu office yafee pitched at  Ntungamo municipality main Mosque  at kadhi’s office to hold a peaceful  demonstration to have him forcefully out of office before the police and RDC Bakunda foiled the demonstration but failed.

Muslim community led by the Ntungamo Muslim district council chairman Hajji Jafari Kawuki accuse district Kadhi Sheikh Kashangirwe of dictatorship, incompetence and mismanaging Muslim funds since he was elected as substantial district Kadhi last year.

They also accuse sheikh Kashangirwe for suspending the Ntungamo Municipality Imam sheikh Abdudallah  Yunusi Rwamahe without paying his Ugx4.5m debt and recently sacking of Ntungamo Muslim district council chairman Hajji Jafari Kawuki without following right procedures.

In the letter dated May 14^th 2019, Hajji Kawuki ceased to be the Ntungamo Muslim district council chairman and Said Bukenya was elected to be the care taker for three months to allow the district for the election of a new substantial one.

This prompted kawuki and Muslim community to storm the office of RDC Ntungamo where RDC George Bakunda petitioned to the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Mubajje who promised them to come in Ntungamo district on Thursday 16^th May 2019 but failed to show up.

Muslims resolved to unseat Sheikh Kashanganirwe and Bukenya from the office until their issues are settled.

RDC Bakunda tried to calm the situation but failed and this helped Kashangirwe to hide in the offices until the police whisked him from angrily Muslims who wanted to kill him.

When contacted Sheikh Kashangirwe refused all allegations saying that they are political but Muslim vowed not to bow to him or lead to them.
