While commissioning and handover ceremony, the Ntungamo district chairman LCV Denis Singahache hailed government of NRM that this is a big achievement which will accelerate steady progress in the maintenance and upgrading of the district roads.
Accompanied by political and civic leaders, Singahache made remarks yesterday at the Ntungamo District Headquarters while handing over Road equipment to the District engineer for the use to cover 2240km.
He noted that the district received a motor grader and wheel loader but it will soon get water bowzer, compactor and two lorry trucks.
“We want to thank the President and government for sending us this equipment, I am sure this time, there will be no excuse for having bad roads in the district,” he said.
According to the Ministry of Works, each district will get a unit worth sh2.7bn from Japan to be distributed to 121 districts in Uganda.
The CAO Ntungamo District Kweyamba Ruhemba says the new road equipment will bring a smile to the district residents who have been crying over the poor state of roads.
Speaking at the same function, the district speaker Elijah Atuhaire said they have new equipment, all feeder roads in the work plan will be worked on immediately.
Recently residents of Kizaara parish Ntungamo Sub County demonstrated and blocked access roads over impassable roads in the area.
