NTUNGAMO RESIDENTS DEMAND ANSWERS ON DIVERTED HEALTH CENTRE EQUIPMENT

Residents of Kitookye village, Nyanga Parish Nyakagongo Rushenyi county have today stormed the Ntungamo District headquarters demanding Nyanga Health center 111 equipment’s.
According to the residents, their health center received equipment from the government of Uganda but it was diverted to other health centers. They were chanting with placards with words like we need nyanga beds, we are tired of the corruption of ntungamo.
Hon councilor Kabeho John councillor representing Rubaare Sub County said that every day they receive different answers from district leaders. He said the health centre has only one bed and they receive many patients from different areas in need of services. They demonstrated in order to get the clear information of where the equipment’s went and to know when they will get them back.
Kyomukama Shallon Tweheyo councillor representing Rubaare subcounty and Rubaare Town council said that they have been meeting District leaders on the whereabouts of the Health equipment that were sent to them but they keep promising that they are going to do investigations but nothing has been done. She said that by getting those equipment, services will reach the common man.
Deputy Chief Administrative officer Ntungamo District Mr Fedelis Kiiza while responding to the demonstrators said that the government of Uganda is in the process of elevating Health center (ii) to health center (iii) s and that Nyanga Health Center 111 is still under construction. He said they have not lost any hospital equipment to private Hospitals as it is alleged by some leaders
Mr Kiiza urged them to wait for the final report from IGG and State House Health Monitoring Unit as they are investigating about the issue. He said that even the District Health Officer has already registered complaint known as grievances redress committee such that if something went wrong, this committee will immediately clear them.
The Chairman Lc5 Ntungamo District Mr. Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba while responding to the aggrieved residents said the inspectorate of government (IGG) and the Health Monitoring of state House are still investigating the equipment’s. He said they don’t know exactly who received them, where the delivery went and that even the contractor who got the contract to bring the equipment was paid only 30%. Mr Sam Mucunguzi told the demonstrators to calm down, wait for the final report from the IGG and Health monitoring unit of the state House and put away politics.
However, The Resident District Commissioner Ntungamo District Carder Mucunguzi Geofrey said that their target as the district leaders is to unclean what is not right in the district.
He told them to calm down until the Hospital is complete and wait till the investigating team finish their part.
