In Ntungamo—
A section of Ntungamo special police constables who secured the January 2021 presidential and parliamentary elections have petitioned the Kajara county Member of parliament Timuzigu Michael Kamugisha over their unpaid allowances.
The Special police constables accuse police authorities in Ntungamo district of retaining their payments even when others were fully paid.
The 80 affected constables are among the over 900 recruited to boost security during the presidential, parliamentary and local council elections by especially manning polling station security.
George Munanura a SPC from Rweikiniro Sub County said that they have been tossed around yet they well know that their money was released and is simply being misused at Ntungamo police.
Niwandinda Lauren one of the petitioners noted that they were given payment for the two months of January and February but did not one for March, and they have waited in vain.
However, Ntungamo District Police Commander Geoffrey Orochi however noted that these constables were recommended by station in-charges for deleting from the payroll over noncompliance with the regulations with some abandoning duty for school.
Timuzigu addressed the constables at Ntungamo police station on Thursday and asked them to keep calm as he investigates the situation.
He said he will present the matter to the top police human resource team and the IGP
