In Mbarara—
Bright Muhumuza who is vying for East Africa Legislative Assembly seat has called for absolute political Unification of East Africa region.
The NUP coordinator told www.mknewslink.com at his home in Kakoba division, Mbarara city that this initiative will create a very big market for locally made products.
“When East African countries agree to embrace political Unification, we are likely to curb stinking poverty rates where by people especially the youth will be able to get employment and if we are together we can agitate for loans from the world’s Giants even on cheaper rate,” he said.
“As the saying goes united we stand divided we fall,” Bright Muhumuza added.
He noted that East African countries should have one political Centre to answer people’s needs like in this COVID 19 forced lockdown where many businesses are crumbling.
He cited out a case in Uganda where more than 17 schools are up for grab due to unforeseen paid loans.
“I hear people say that East Africa needs a common market others say common boarders, you cannot share boarders with your neighbor when you don’t concur politically,” he added.
Bright Muhumuza told www.mknewslink.com reporter that East African leaders can’t talk about political unification when countries like Kenya and Rwanda are still refusing to take in Ugandan goods such as milk and maize.
“Countries like Rwanda have severally denied to take in Ugandan poultry products even when East African members agreed to have a common market,” he said.
On security, Bright Muhumuza criticized East African member states for failing to tackle issues surrounding the killing of truck drivers in South Sudan.
