NWSC BOARD TOURS UGX 11.8 B BUSHENYI WATER PROJECT

National Water and Sewerage Corporation board headed by hon. Steven Basalilwa have today toured many projects in greater Bushenyi including Kitagata world bank funded project that is already complete.
They toured Warugo water project at the border of Kyamuhunga, Kakanju and Bitooma sub counties.
According to the area manager NWSC Eng. Sam Kiggundu, Warugo project will cost 11.8 Billion shillings.
He added that project will be completed in 18 months and assemblance of materials is already in progress.
The site Eng. Kenneth Nuwamanya told board and Bushenyi leaders that the contract was signed in August and the project will commence soonest.
Among the board members was; Can. Josephine Kasya the first female district chairman in Uganda for Kanungu who was very much concerned with when the project will be completed and she was ably answered by site manager Nuwamanya that it will take only 18 months.
Warugo water project will serve Bitooma town council, Kyamuhunga sub county and town council, Kakanju sub county then the balance will go to Ishaka town.
The capacity of project, according to Eng. Sam Kiggundu is 2.5 million litres per day.
Eng. Kiggundu noted that they need more 1.8 million litres to supply the entire Bushenyi district to 100%.
