Residents of Nyakahanga cell, Bugashe ward Nyakayojo division Mbarara municipality yesterday staged a peaceful demonstration over poor service delivery in the area.
Residents complained of poor service delivery ranging from poor roads, lack of gravitational water scheme to poor education system.
According to the Beinomugisha Sulait the chairperson Nyakahanga cell, ever since Mbarara was declared a municipality in 2012, leaders have given them empty promises.
One of the residents Vincent Nyesiga said that 15 years ago one Member of Parliament promised them to work on the Bugashe-Kichwamba road but up to now he never delivered machines to work on the shoddy status road and he threatened that they might not take part in the forth coming general elections
The area councillor who doubles as the speaker Mbarara municipality Bonny Tashobya Karusya said that his people lack roads that can connect them to the commercial centers to market their agricultural produce.
Bonny called upon the Mayor and the area Members of Parliament to join hands and deliver services to the people of Nyakahanga cell
Efforts to get Mayor’s comment on the matter were futile
