NYAMWERU HEALTH CENTER III TURNED INTO SUB COUNTY OFFICES, PATIENTS DENIED PRIVACY.

Patients seeking health services from Nyamweru Health centre III in Nyamweru sub county Rubanda District are seeking autonomy from Nyamweru sub county administration for privacy.
The facility’s maternity wing is being occupied by the sub county chief Narith Byamugisha and the Local council three chairperson David Twinobusingye Karindugu.
The rest of the facility has been turned into the office for the sub county’s Community development officer and what used to be the Out Patient Department at the facility is now a police post and also serves as the sub county council hall.
Nyamweru Sub County became an independent sub county in 2010 after being carved out of Bubare Sub County. In 2015, government through office of the prime minister agreed to construct Nyamweru head quarters.
Some patients who include Ronald Mugabe, Annet Tumukunde, Evas Atwine among others told mknewslink.com that the health centre has been abandoned by patients due to lack of privacy. They say that most patients have opted to go to Bubare health centre and Kabale regional referral hospital where they can access privacy.
The Nyamweru sub county district councilor Sandra Kyomukama says that she has received many complaints from patients claiming they are easily exposed to other people. She however says that they have waited for central government to construct the sub county administration block in vain.
The Nyamweru sub county chief Narith Byamugisha acknowledges that the sub county offices are now occupying what is meant to be a health facility and the decision to convert the facility was taken because the authorities could not afford to rent or construct new offices. He however says that they administration block has reached at window level and it will be finished in 2018/2019 financial year, since they have 13million as a continuing funds.
The Rubanda district Chairman Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema says that that the district is aware of the challenges in Nyamweru Sub County. He says that there plan to finish the administration structures is in place which will accommodate the sub county headquarters after which the sub county leaders will vacate the health facility and he has also called for co-existence until it’s finished.
