ONE ARRESTED IN POLICE OPERATION AGAINST KABALE STREET_LIGHT BATTERY THIEVES

Police in Kabale are investigating circumstances under which batteries are being stolen from street lights.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region police mouthpiece, a report of theft of batteries was filed on 19/7/2022 at Kabale police station by Turinawe Fred who stated that unknown people had stolen batteries from different streets
The scene was visited and statements were recorded to help in investigations.
On 06/09/2022 the officers from crime intelligence were notified about the where-abouts of the stolen batteries and proceeded to arrest Tumusiime Ronald 18, a resident of Kigongi A cell central division Kabale municipality who was found with two allegedly stolen batteries.
Upon interrogation, the suspect revealed that he had acquired the batteries from another individual only identified as Rashid
Tumusiime Ronald is a hawker and hails from Mukashatya village Karama sub county Kigali city Rwanda.
Maate says inquiries are ongoing to have the whole racket arrested.
