ONE KILLED ON SPOT IN KABARE ROAD ACCIDENT

One person has been confirmed dead on spot and five others injured in a road accident that occurred at Kagano along Kabale-Kisoro road on Tuesday evening at around 8:00pm.

A Mitsubishi Fuso box body registration number UAE 697l that was coming to Kabale collided with a Fuso fighter box body registration number UAT 024B that was coming from Kabale to Kisoro loaded with dry cassava.

The deceased was identified as Ali Mwanda 45, the driver of Fuso fighter box body a resident of Nabirere village Busembatya in Iganga district while his turn man identified as Yunusu Muhereza 41, also a resident of Iganga sustained minor injuries.

Tthe vehicle turn boy Yazidi Pavenya 21, a resident of Iganga municipality, Traira Kagino 25, a resident of Jinja municipality and Allan Bizimana 30, a resident of Nyarusiza Subcounty in Kisoro District were also in Mitsubishi Fuso box body registration No.UAE 697l and sustained minor injuries.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate said that the injured
were rushed to Mutolere hospital for treatment while the deceased’s body was also taken to the same hospital mortuary for postmortem as
investigations are ongoing.

Maate said that the accident was as a result of reckless driving of one of the drivers since the accident occurred on a steep slope and on a sharp corner, according to the preliminary investigations.
