ONE PASSENGER KILLED, 6 OTHERS INJURED IN RUKUNGIRI FUSO ACCIDENT

Police in Rukungiri Police station are investigating an accident that killed one passenger and critically injured six others at Bikurungu

Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Peter Niwamanya a resident of farmers cell Rukungiri District.

Maate narrated that the accident was involved motor vehicle reg. no. UAU 497 U Fuso fighter and UAR 368 R Fuso fighter which were coming from Bikurungu side heading to Rukungiri Town.

It is alleged that m/v reg. no. UAR 368 R failed to climb Katabushera hill, went backwards but the driver lost control and it over turned.

Maate revealed that when the driver of motor vehicle reg no UAU 497 U saw the front vehicle reversing, he decided also to reverse at a high speed and ended up over turning in the middle of the road and killing one passenger

Six passengers were seriously injured and rushed to different medical facilities for treatment.

The accident occurred on 16/12/2021 at about 2300hrs at Katabushera village along Rukungiri Bugangari road.

Both vehicles still at the scene being guarded pending to be towed.

The body of the deceased was taken to Rwakabengo health centre III for postmortem.
