ONE PERSON DIES IN SHEEMA NRM FINAL CAMPAIGNS AS POLICE FIGHT WITH RESIDENTS

Police in Sheema District are investigating circumstances under which a 34-year-old man died at the final day of the NRM party primary campaigns in Sheema south constituency.
According to SP Scovia Birungi the Sheema District Police Commander, the deceased was on the illegal campaign trucks of one of the candidates for the area parliamentary seat.
Birungi told www.mknewslink.com that the unfortunate incident happened as the security team led by the Sheema District RDC Frank Besigye Kyerere were trying to stop illegal campaigning and the residents resisted to follow the security orders.
SP Birungi added that the campaigners instead started exchanging blows with the security team which forced them to fire bullets in the air to disperse the rowdy crowds.
“The security team started firing bullets to disperse the crowds which caused the fracas and in the process the man fell off the truck and died instantly,” SP Birungi told the www.mknewslink.com
The DPC added that they so far have 34 goons in detention suspected to had been imported into the area to destabilize tomorrow’s election.
The hotly contested for seat is Sheema Municipality parliamentary seat where the former URA commissioner Dicksons Kateshumbwa is tussling it out with the Incumbent Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye
In Sheema South, the Incumbent Prof Ephraim Kamuntu is facing Eng Dickens Mushemeza.
The NRM is today Friday September 4th 2020 electing their parliamentary flag bearers for the 2021 general elections.
