ONE SHOT DEAD AS MOB ATTACKS POLICE POST IN KIRUHURA DISTRICT

Police in in Kiruhura District are investigating circumstances under a boda boda rider was shot dead as Mob of his colleagues attempted to raid Kikatsi police post with an intention of lynching a Suspected motorcycle thief .
ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region police mouthpiece told www.mknewslink.com that on 8th.Apirl. 2021 boda boda riders raided Kikatsi police post in attempts to lynch Kadu Mukasa aged 40 years a resident of Ssembabule District who was handed over to police by boda boda riders on allegation of stealing motorcycles.
Kasasira added that while the police was still interrogating the suspect, a group of boda boda riders who had been called to rescue their colleague became unruly attempting to grab the Suspect from police.
SPC Tumwine Emmanuel attached to the police post discharged a bullets in the air to disperse the rowdy boda boda riders but they kept on advancing towards the police officer who ended up shooting at Innocent Nabaasa who died on spot.
The officer also injured Nasasira Moses 28 years a mechanic in Kikatsi trading Centre who was rushed to Mbarara regional referral hospital to receive treatment.
The police spokesperson further intimated to www.mknewslink.com that in the process, three motorcycles which belonged to the mob that is UFB700Z, UFL396C and UFD777E were impounded.
He noted the body of the deceased was taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for a postmortem examination.
Kasasira said the police officer SPC Tumwine Emmanuel was apprehended and his riffle AK47-NO.4756-128133363 with 27 rounds of ammunition exhibited as inquiries to ascertain the cause of the matter take course.
