“I OPPOSED AGE LIMIT TOGETHER WITH BESIGYE IN 1994″—PROF. KABWEGYERE

In Bushenyi—
The former minister of general duties in prime minister’s office; Prof.Tarsis Kabwegyere has come out again to assert that presidential age limit should be removed because for him, he even rejected the proposal in the constituent assembly 1994 together with leaders like Col.Dr. Kiiza Besigye.
In exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com managing Editor at his Kanyamabona Fish Farm in Ishaka town Bushenyi district, today July 31, 2017, Prof.Kabwegyere who is also the former MP for Igara west said 75 years of age is not gold age because a person remains energetic even beyond 75 years of age.
The former senior citizen and minister revealed that during the 1994 Constituent Assembly with Prof.Apollo Nsibambi and Col.Dr.Kizza Besigye, he tried to reject age limit but they lost the game to majority delegates.
He says at 75 years of age doesn’t mean that a person becomes imbecile. “At 75 years of age a person does not become an Imbecile”. Am now 76 years of age but look at me, am still strong” Prof. Kabwegyere argued.
The NRM cadres have at several intervals supported the amendment of 102(b) in the 1995 constitution of Uganda with an intention of making Museveni a life president.
On the issue of bribing MPs to accomplish a deal of age limit removal, he noted that the Ugandan society morals are rotten. “When you visit a constituency, people are demanding money as well as churches among others. Our society’s behaviors are just rotten” Kabwegyere observed.
On whether there will be anarchy during the attempt to remove the age limit, Kabwegyere said that it is expected but it can be the same when president Museveni fails to have the age limit removal achieved. The supporters of Museveni can equally riot.
He also told this editor that Museveni is not Uganda and therefore Ugandans should not think that if age limit is removed from the constitution then the main purpose is to benefit him[museveni] “Uganda is bigger than Museveni and all other Ugandans” Kabwegyere said.
