The army seeks to recruit 4000 new soldiers in the entire districts of Uganda.
According to the UPDF recruitment team spokesperson in charge of western Uganda Maj. Charles Kabona, the turn up for Kasese was overwhelming but most of the applicants lacked the recruitment requirements.
Maj. Charles said they are looking for professionals in medicine, teaching, engineering, vocational studies and S6 and S4 leavers with focus on sciences.
He said the successful applicants were scrutinized based on academic credentials, medical test, national ID in order to get the required number of 54.
