PEDAL CYCLIST KILLED IN RUKUNGIRI ACCIDENT

Police in Rukungiri district are holding a 19 yrs old man for knocking a pedal cyclist which resulted into his death.
The accident involved motor vehicle reg no UEZ 318Q Bajaj boxer ridden by Moses Karuhura aged 19 yrs a resident of Rwarubira cell Rwakabengo ward Southern division, Rukungiri municipality and a pedal cyclist identified as James Turyazayo aged 55yrs of Kirehe cell Kitimba parish, Nyakagyeme sub county Rukungiri district.
The Kigezi region police spokes person Elly Matte said that the accident happened on the 19/5/2020 at about 1830 hours at Kigina along Rukungiri- Kanungu road.
The deceased was rushed to doctors case clinic where was referred to Nyakibale hospital but some relatives being army officers preferred taking him to Bombo military hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival yesterday 20/05/2020.
Matte cautioned drivers to observe road signs and avoid reckless driving which will end lives of innocent people
Scene was visited and motor vehicle was taken to Central police station for inspection and inquiries are underway to establish the likely cause.
