People can’t be the King of Uganda, that’s why they keep on beating you. The ‘King’ of Uganda is the president and the Guardians of the ‘Kingdom’ are the Security forces and the Courts. Parliament is called ‘a stamp holder ‘ to legitimize instruments of governance in form of Statutes and Policies and this must be done at utmost convenience of the ‘King’.
Whoever dares to go against the strategic interests of the ‘King’ in most cases, that person or group must pay heavily. This is the truth, nothing else but the truth.
For the case of countries like Tanzania, the Power Structure is crafted differently. I think, in my humble opinion this is what NRM has failed to achieve.
In Tanzania the King is not the people also -It’s a big Man called ‘Chama Cha mapinduzi- CCM’. For them, the ‘King’ is a group and the President is the First among the Equals in the Group. If your actions are deemed to be against the King (CCM) in Tanzania, the ‘Dogs’ (guardians or Security forces must deal with you. Therefore, the first Characteristic of Power is that its Monarchical- It must as a matter of utmost urgency reside in ONE CENTRE- other Small Centres must tap from it.
Those who are talking about people, the people is the Source of Power, but they are not Power. Take an example of Water- It’s the source of Hydro Power, but water is not hydropower. This is why when your hands are wet with touch a live wire, you know what happens. People Power is an illusion. The actual power is State Power because for its an already processed product of the Power of the People- The real hydro power processed from water (people) power. Therefore, when you are confronting an already processed power you must be careful. You don’t approach it with ‘a ganja attitude’. This Power can easily break you.
To break the Processed Power, you either do a Museveni approach of 1981-86, or a Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Lurther King, and Nelson Mandela and Col Besigye Kiiza Approach. These approaches can either destroy or slowly breakdown this power. But come with slot of pain and sacrifice.
