PIBID TRAINS 5 PhDs, 15 MASTERS DEGREES IN BANANA RESEARCH

The executive Director of presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development Rev.Pro.Frolence Muranga has revealed that her organization has so far sponsored 20 scientists for Post Graduate studies in banana research.

She said among them 5 are PhDs and 15 others are masters.

Muranga said this yesterday on sidelines for workshop of banana researchers held at Nyaruzinga in Bushenyi district.

She noted that the sponsorships are in banana textile, biogas, starch, pharmaceuticals among others.

About 7 banana scientists presented the progress of their research and how far they have gone with their postgraduate studies.

The PIBID staff who are being sponsored in banana research are attached to universities of Mbarara university of science and technology, Makerere university and Busitema university.

Rev.Muranga concluded that by December 2019 the banana factory will start full scale production for export of banana floor and its products abroad and selling locally.
