PIONEER MAYOR FOR NTUNGAMO MUNICIPALITY KAFUREEKA RETAINS SEAT TO SERVE FOR MORE 5 YEARS

The longest serving mayor for Ntungamo municipality Jacob Kafureeka has retained his seat seat.
The returning officer Ntungamo district Latiff Ngonzi on Monday declared the incumbent mayor also the NRM flag bearer Mr. Jacob Kafureeka a.k.a Jack Jex as the newly elected mayor for Ntungamo municipality.
Jacob Kafureka was pioneer mayor for Ntungamo since it was made a town council in 1994-2001, followed by Patrick Muhangi from 2001-2010, then Jacob Kafureka took on from 2011-2015, 2016-2020 and he has retained the seat to 2021-2026.
Kafureeka beat his opponents with 3331 polled votes at all polling stations, followed by Hajj Hakim Rwomushana independent with 1486 votes, Perez Katabarwa scored 480, and Agaba Benjamin with 127 votes.
However, Hajj Hakim Rwomushana who was footing behind Jacob Kafureeka said that the elections were not free and fair.
