IN BUSHENYI—
Police and the army have been deployed at kirundo village kiyaga parish Bumbaire sub-county in Bushenyi district to stop Besigye from attending prayers of the slain supporter.
His visit comes after a senior member of the party died on Monday and was buried on Wednesday this week. FDC party district leadership led by chairman Paul Kahiigi organized the prayers and put announcements on radio saying that Besigye was coming to pay tribute to the family of the deceased Kasingye Mary.
However the Regional Police commander Micheal Musani Sebila called a press conference this morning announce that col. Besigye did not ask for permission from police to participate in the function. “police will not allow this Besigye to visit Bumbaire. Even family members are divided about the matter” He said.
He noted that the public order management Act is clear you have to inform the police before organizing such functions.
One of the family members and the heir of the family Engineer John Muramye said Besigye never consulted family members about his visit and prayers.
One of the family members David Kakama told www.mknewslink.com reporter that Besigye was free to visit their family because the deceased was a party member but he disagreed with his elder brother who is saying that Kakama could not have done this without informing other family members.
Engineer john Muramye added that despite the fact that his late sister was an FDC member doesnot mean that Col. Besigye has to hold illegal prayers at their home.
RPC cautioned people to avoid organizing illegal processions and they must work with systems that are put in place to provide order.
The Bushenyi district FDC party chairman Paul Kahiigi noted that the police have threatened family members that if Col. Besigye visits their family then they would be arrested.
He challenged the RPC Musani to quote a section in public order management act where a leader or any Ugandan has to seek police permission in order to visit ones family. “The RPC is lying he is just ashamed of the wrongs the police is inflicting on FDC party members” he challenged RPC.
The whole of Bushenyi is full army and police. They have erected road blocks everywhere to stop Col. Besigye from visiting a family of the deceased member who has been the chairperson of electoral commission at the district.
