POLICE ARRESTS SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, CHILDREN RESCUED

Kampala Police have intercepted a vehicle and rescued two children from suspected kidnappers who had asked for shs 3m ransom from their [children} parents.
The two children identified as Rahma Nakula Mulika and Tajudiin Mulika Diin said the suspects tricked them into moving with them to buy cakes and later disappeared with them without the consent of their parents.
Hajji Musa Muliika, father of the children yesterday reported a case of kidnap to Bweyogerere Police Station after failing to trace his children.
The police trackers located the calls made by the suspects to Lugazi as they kept asking for the money in order to release the children.
On realizing that police was closing down on them, the suspects drove the children back to Kireka where police caught them in a Toyota Hiace registration number UBB 724M.
The children were found in good health and have been re-united with their parents.
The two suspects, whose names have been withheld upon questioning, claimed that they had no intention of harming the children but rather to get money from their parents.
The OC. Bweyogerere ASP Mike Mugabe said the suspects who are facing kidnap related charges have currently been transferred to Kira Division Police Station to help police with investigations before being arraigned in courts of law.
He added that the vehicle suspected to have been used in commission of the crime has been impounded.
