Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Kibaale Samuel Kisembo has faulted police of neglecting children concerns reported.
Mr.Samuel said the act has increased child abuse in the district since they do not have where to report as police has kept a deaf ear.
During stakeholders meeting about child protection in the districts of Kibaale, Kakumiro and Kagadi at starlight karuguza in kibaale town organized by world vision on Friday, he said police has not done enough to protect the rights of children which are stipulated in the constitution of Uganda.
He warned parents who give corporal punishment to their children to stop before the law picks them up.
World vision official in charge of Kibale district Edith Muhindo said according to their 2014 report 33.1% of girls are married off before the age of 18 in kibale district alone.
“we are operating in 41 districts and our aim is to fight for the observation of children rights in the country as police should take part in abolishing child abuse” said Edith muhindo
