RUKIGA:
Police in Rukiga District are searching for a 30-year-old man accused of killing a 44-year-old woman in Kamwezi Sub County.
The suspect, identified as Nelson Sunday, a resident of Katungu Cell, Kibanda Parish in Kamwezi Sub County, allegedly assaulted Kedeth Katushabe, who succumbed to her injuries weeks later.
According to a police statement, on 02/06/2024, at around 3:00 PM, Nelson had a domestic dispute with his wife, Janet, who sought refuge at Kedeth’s home. Janet ran through the house and exited through the back door.
When Nelson arrived and asked Kedeth about his wife’s whereabouts, she pointed him in the direction Janet had fled.
Unable to locate his wife, Nelson reportedly went back to Kedeth’s house, grabbed her, and began assaulting her, striking her on the forehead and lower jaw. Kedeth reported the incident to Kamwezi police station, and the two were reconciled with Nelson.
Unfortunately, on 09/07/2024, at around 10:00 PM, Kedeth passed away at Kamwezi Health Center IV, where she had been admitted for treatment.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, stated that the crime scene was processed and documented, and a postmortem examination was conducted.
