POLICE IN KABALE ON HUNT FOR MURDER SUSPECT TUMWEKASE

The Kabale territorial police are currently searching for Ambrose Tumwekwase, a 28-year-old suspect, in connection with the alleged murder of James Reakatarira, a 30-year-old resident of Omururinda village, Kicumbi parish, Kamuganguzi sub-county, Kabale district.
The incident occurred after the suspect discovered Reakatarira engaging in a sexual act with Tumwekwase’s wife in their bed.
According to reports, the deceased, Reakatarira, had been involved in a romantic relationship with Niwamanya Vian, the wife of the suspect, since 2022. While the suspect was aware of the affair, he had not caught them in the act until recently.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, addressed the media today and provided details of the incident that On July 9, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the suspect discovered the deceased and his wife returning home together. Tumwekwase followed them and caught them engaging in a sexual act on his bed inside his own house.
ASP Maate described how the suspect, armed with a machete, proceeded to attack the deceased, inflicting fatal wounds to his head, hands, and legs. The victim bled to death at the scene, while Vian, the wife, managed to escape and inform her parents-in-law.
Maate further explained that on July 10, 2023, James Kabalemesa, the area chairperson, received the information and promptly contacted the Kamuganguzi police post. The police officers responded to the incident and subsequently informed the Kabale Central Police Station.
Upon arrival, the police visited the crime scene, which was located in the suspect’s house. They conducted a thorough investigation and collected evidence.
Additionally, the wife of the prime suspect was apprehended to aid in the ongoing investigation. The body of the deceased was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The murder case has been registered at Kamuganguzi police post in Kabale district under the reference number CRB 542/2023. The police will continue their inquiries into this tragic event.
