POLICE OFFICER, 14 OTHERS ARRESTED OVER FUEL THEFT

Police in Kagadi district are holding 15 people including the officer in charge of Rutete police post over the theft of fuel from the trucks of Shengeli Engineering construction.
Shengeli Engineering Construction Company is charged with tarmacking of Kabwayo-Kagadi-Kyenjojo road.
According to Ojara Romel Onek, the District Police Commander Kagadi district, the OC Ruteete police post Mardrine Rungyenzapola, was among those who were arrested adding that the other 14 are drivers attached to Shengeli Engineering construction.
Onek could not reveal the identities of the suspects but noted that they were arrested after a tip off by the concerned residents who saw the suspects siphoning fuel from the trucks in Kitegwa village, Ruteete Sub County in Kagadi District on Tuesday afternoon where Shengeli collects marram from.
He said that over twenty jerry cans of fuel were discovered adding that the suspects will be arraigned in courts of law to answer charges of theft.
Ojara told www.mknewslink.com that the OC Ruteete post was arrested after
she deliberately failed to cooperate with the OC CID Kagadi to lead him to Kitegwa village where siphoning of fuel from trucks was being conducted.
Speaking to this reporter, the public relations officer for Shengeli engineering construction company, Godwin also confirmed the arrest of their staff, though he could not give details.
