POLICE WARNS KABALE POLITICAL LEADERS AGAINST INTERFERING WITH COUNCILOR THEFT CASE

The Kabale District Police Commander Geoffrey Kaheebwa has asked political leaders not to interfere with police investigations on the case against the Northern Division councilor Emmanuel Niwagaba who is accused of allegedly stealing metallic drums that were put on the road sides of Kabale municipality to help in collection of garbage.
Niwagaba who is the chairperson of the health committee at the Northern division was arrested on Sunday morning at around 8:30am in his home in Kinyungusi cell in lower Bugongi of Northern division after he was found chopping the drums into smaller pieces.
The 200 drums were donated by Coca-Cola and Entusi in partnership with Kabale municipality to help in collection of all garbage in Town as a bid to beautify the municipality.
Speaking today during the Kabale Municipality 2019/2020 budget conference at Christ the King hall in Kabale Municipality, Kaheebwa said that he has received most of the political leaders who are coming in his office demanding for the release of the suspect saying that they should leave the suspect to face legal action because he is a leader who should be exemplary in protecting such properties.
Kaheebwa said that the suspect is claiming that he bought the drums from the street kids wondering how people elected asuch person.
The Kabale Municipality Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha said that such leaders should face legal actions because they are hindering the development of the town, he also said that he has also received information that there are other people who want to vandalize the remaining drums saying that they risk being arrested.
