In Bushenyi—
Corruption and political interference have been blamed for the poor performance of the district service commissions in greater Bushenyi.
This was revealed today 07th Nov.2018 during a meeting between the parliamentary Appointments committee and chief administrative officers, heads of department at district levels ,chairmen LC V, chairpersons of district service commissions from across the five districts of greater Bushenyi with an aim of assessing the performance of district service commissions.
The participants revealed to a committee that consisted of Mwijukye Francis, Buhweju MP, Beatrace Rwakimari woman MP for Ntungamo and Margret Rwabushaija Namubiru MP for workers that some of the Commissioners take bribes from job seekers to be appointed and this has led to employment of incompetent employees.
They also noted that some of the political leaders interfere in the operations of the district service commissions and case in point was Sheema where the chairman refused to approve a member of the commission to represent the disabled.
They added that such interferences make it difficult for the commission to make decisions.
Participants were also concerned about the limited funds they receive from the central government which cannot facilitate the five members of the district service commissions.
Mwijukye Francis said that these issues and many others that were raised would be tabled before parliament and promised that they will be addressed.
